Now you can cover up the key hole there like so with the properties palette we're not going to be touching the key hole for this particular video. So what I'm going to do here I'm going to cite a line in the hinge first and then I'm going to right click and just go to properties on the shortcut menu and bring up the properties palette. Now we might want the spaces between the dashes to be slightly different. So what we need to do there is we need to create a different layer or we can like we did earlier, go back up here change it back again to dash times two hit escape and there we go we've got our dashed arc again. Of course it has because the bolt layer has a continuous line type.

And if I hit escape, now, you'll see, oh, hang on a minute. I'm going to go up to properties and I'm going to set that to by layer. So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to change this one here on the bolt. That basically scales down the dashes and the spaces in the line type itself. So what we could do here is we could play around with the line type scale, the line type scale for both of these objects on the hinge and on the bolt is a line type scale of one which is the equivalent of a hundred percent. So what we've got here is two different dashed line types that are applying to different dash lines. So what we've done with our bolt is this dashed arc is actually using, can you see here it's using a line type that is individual to the object rather than the layer. Remember if we go and look in the layer properties here our bolt it's a continuous line type. Because when we look here we can see that the hinge here is using a dashed line type on the hinge, hidden layer but over here on the bolt, this dashed arc is actually on the bolt layer so it should be continuous. What I'm going to do though is I'm going to cancel that and I'm going to close the layer properties manager. If I wanted to change that like in the previous video you'll notice we also have a dashed X two line type there as well. How do we find those? Well what we do is we jump into our layer properties here like so and you can see that our hinge hidden there is actually using a dashed line type. Now we've got two different line types loaded up in our AutoCAD drawing. You've also got the bashed arc here representing the thread on the bolt as well.

But when you've got dashed line types, like you have here for the hinge, there's that dashed line there.

So for a continuous line, line type scale really doesn't apply.

That's not an issue because it is a continuous line. We're going to take a little look now at line type scale. We're staying in our objectlayerproperties.dwg file.
